Monkey Mia is famed for the numerous bottlenose dolphins that decide to visit and interact with the humans at the beach. They are part of a pod of around 300 wild dolphins that live in the bay. In 1964 a lady from one of the near-by fishing camps befriended the dolphins, regularly feeding them. Generations of wild dolphins have enjoyed the regular human contact which has now become a part of their daily lives.

Shark Bay - The abundance of natural wonders, unique flora and unique fauna has caused Shark Bay to be gazetted as World Heritage. It is famous for many rare species and is home to around a tenth of the world's dugong population. The first European to set foot on Australian soil was Dirk Hartog. The Island where this took place is named after him. Monkey Mia famed for the numerous bottlenose dolphins that decide to interact with humans is located in Shark Bay also.

Carnarvon is located 904 kilometres north of Perth on the North West Coastal Highway. A coastal town, Carnarvon has a moderate tropical climate and is famous for its banana plantations. First settled in 1876, Carnarvon has had a colourful history, not to mention a traumatic beginning. Several destructive floods occurred early on in the town's life when the Gascoyne River repeatedly broke its banks.
Two landmarks that have had a significant influence on the history of Carnarvon are the Carnarvon Heritage Precinct and the satellite communications dish.

Coral Bay - One of the most spectacular wonders the area has to offer is the coral and marine life found on the Ningaloo Reef, the largest coral fringing reef in the world. The reef stretches 260km along the coast and at Coral Bay stretches out for about two km from the shore line. Supporting over 500 species of fish and more than 200 species of coral, this is a beautiful, unique and fragile environment to explore and marvel at.
First time snorkellers find these protected waters provide an ideal environment to discover the underwater world. |

Exmouth is one of the few areas in Australia that can boast the Range to Reef experience. The Cape Range National Park which has some spectacular gorges is an area of 50,581 hectares and its main area is focused on the west coast of the Cape which provides a large variety of camp sites on the coastal fringe of the Park. The beaches of the west coast have the most pristine blue, aqua to turquoise waters with white surge breaking over the reef and pure white sandy beach. Purnululu National Park is 110 km north of the town of Halls Creek and 250 km south of Kununurra in the north east of Western Australia. It is an incredible sight, a landscape of beehive-shaped sandstone formations, deep chasms with palm trees and long, deep Piccaninny Gorge with its fan palms adorning the rocks. To appreciate the overall aspect of this weird landscape, one has to take to the air and there are plane and helicopter rides available. |

A landmark feature of the town is the two kilometre Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Denmark - The town of Denmark is surrounded by hills and karri forests. It spreads along the western bank of the lower Denmark River and the Wilson Inlet to Ocean Beach. Further scenic beauty is provided by the rugged coastline with its beaches and headlands.
Since its foundation in 1895 as a timber town it has also supported fishing, potato growing, dairy farming, fruit growing and now wineries and the tourist industry. |

Near Torndirrup is the interesting Whaleworld an outstanding museum of whaling history. Located where one of Australia's last whaling stations, the Cheynes Beach Whaling Company, operated it includes tearooms and provides a comprehensive history of whaling in the southern ocean. There is an excellent video on the history of whaling as well as interesting displays including harpoon guns and a restored whale chaser, the Cheynes IV. |

Albany, Western Australia's oldest settlement, established in 1826, is situated 400 kilometres south of the capital city of Perth. For the tourist it offers infinite variety - history, scenery, beaches, parks and gardens and entertainment. The adjoining coastline, and mountains (Porongurup Range and Stirling Range National Parks) are within easy reach. On the coast, not far from Albany, is Albany's wind farm consisting of 12 turbines which supply up to 75% of Albany's power requirements. Esperance - For squeaky-white beaches, getting off the beaten track and bunking down under the stars, head south to Esperance. Kalgoorlie - Western Australia's largest goldfields town famed for its fascinating gold rush history, fabulous old buildings and old gold miners' ghost towns was born amid the 1880s gold rush when thousands of starry-eyed prospectors made the 700 kilometre journey east of Perth seeking their fortunes. Vibrant Hannan Street (named after Irishman Paddy Hannan who struck gold in 1893) is lined with pubs, nightclubs, cafes and restaurants. Kalgoorlie is still an active mining town and the 3.5 kilometre long, 1.5 kilometre wide Super Pit Mine - where 800,000 ounces of gold is produced each year - is mind-blowing.
